From Case Western Reserve University Athletics

Before she led a remarkable turnaround as coach of the Case Western Reserve University softball program, Josie Henry was an All-American pitcher at Ashland University. Next Saturday, Henry will be honored for her career as a student-athlete when she is inducted into AU's Athletic Hall of Fame.

Henry will be the second CWRU coach in as many years to be inducted into Ashland's Hall of Fame. Women's Soccer Head Coach Tiffany Crooks was enshrined last fall.

An All-American and College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District selection, Henry graduated in 2004 as the Eagles' career leader in earned run average (1.11), strikeouts (1,109), innings pitched (792.1) and complete games (99). Her career ratio of 10.2 strikeouts per seven innings ranked fourth all-time in NCAA Division II. Henry was 77-36 in her career with 42 shutouts and three no-hitters.

As head coach at CWRU, Henry has averaged 25 wins during the past three seasons with an overall mark of 94-68 in her four years. Prior to Henry's hiring in 2011, the program went winless in the University Athletic Association for two seasons and had not enjoyed a winning season since 2002.

The 2014 campaign was the finest during Henry's tenure as the Spartans (25-15) claimed a share of the program's first UAA Championship since 1999. The team produced three NFCA All-Central Region selections, five All-UAA honorees and the first Capital One Academic All-American® in program history. For their efforts, Henry and her assistants were named the UAA Softball Coaching Staff of the Year.
