Washington University in St. Louis softball coach Leticia Pineda-Boutté has announced the hiring of Kaitlyn Dulac as the program's first-ever full-time assistant coach.

Dulac brings seven years of coaching experience to the Danforth Campus, most recently serving as the head junior varsity and assistant varsity coach at La Salle Academy in Providence, R.I., since 2013. She also spent four years (2009-12) as an assistant varsity coach at St. Mary Academy in East Providence.

"I am incredibly excited to join WashU family - both the softball program and the greater athletic department," said Dulac. "The opportunity to work with such talented colleagues and be part of such a rich tradition is truly an honor. I am eager to begin and looking forward to the season."

Dulac was a four-year standout player at NCAA Division III Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y. She hit .496 as a senior in 2006 to earn Empire 8 Player of the Year and National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Third-Team All-America honors. Dulac helped lead Ithaca to four NCAA Tournament appearances, including trips to the World Series in 2005 and 2006.

She was also a four-time all-conference selection and picked up ECAC Upstate Player of the Year and ESPN The Magazine First-Team Academic All-District honors in 2006. Dulac ranks third in school history in batting average (.372), fourth in RBIs (110) and seventh in runs scored (109).

"I am extremely excited to add Kaitlyn to the coaching staff. I think she compliments the staff very well and is extremely passionate about the game," Pineda-Boutté said. "I cannot wait to welcome her on campus and begin planning for our upcoming fall season."

Dulac graduated with a bachelor's degree in sport management from Ithaca in 2006, and a master's degree in business administration from Ithaca in 2007. She also received her Juris Doctor from Marquette University Law School in 2010.
