Emory sophomore Brittany File's second-game no-hitter highlighted the Eagles' effort on Saturday in a doubleheader sweep over Fontbonne University. Emory whitewashed the Griffins twice, both by 3-0 scores, in raising its overall record to 20-2 while the Griffins slipped to 6-8. The two victories raised the Eagles' home record to 12-0.
Emory 3, Fontbonne 0 – File tosses a no-hit gem, allowing just one walk while striking 10 batters, her second-highest total of the campaign … It is Emory's first seven-inning no hitter since April 8, 2005, when Kathy Gordon accomplished that feat against Wesleyan (Ga.) College in a 6-0 triumph … The Eagles score the only run they would need in the first inning when junior center fielder Alyssa Pollard leads off with a double and eventual scores when sophomore Tara Fallahee singles her in … Freshman first baseman Ashley Powers delivers a two-run single in the bottom of the third that scores Fallahee and pinch runner Raygan Greer … File's performance raises her record to 7-2.
