Emory's Hannah Sendel Named NFCA Division III Hitter Of The Week

Emory University junior Hannah Sendel (Greenwood Village, CO) has been selected
as the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III National Hitter of the Week. It is the second time in her career that she has earned the honor.  Ayyson Fournier of Tufts University was tabbed as the Pitcher of the Week. 

Sendel helped the No. 8-ranked Emory softball team to a share of the University Athletic Association Championship, with the Eagles finishing with an 8-2 record.

Sendel paced the Eagles in a number of offensive categories including runs (14), home runs (7), RBIs (16), total bases (37), walks (9), on-base percentage (.676) and slugging percentage (1.423).

One of Sendel's performances was a 3-for-5 effort at the plate in a 13-3 win over Case Western, with all of her hits home runs, tying a school record for most round trippers in a game.  She scored four runs against the Spartans wound up the contest with five RBIs.  In the UAA finale, a 10-2 triumph over Rochester that clinched a piece of the league title, Sendel went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs.   She drove in the team's first run of the game in the bottom of the first and doubled in the Eagles' first run during an eight-run uprising in the bottom of the fifth.  She opened the UAA Championships with a pair of homers and three RBIs in a 14-2 decision over New York University. 

Sendel paces the team with a .483 hitting mark (28-of-58) and has produced team bests with nine homers and 30 RBIs.
