Paige Biles and Kenzie James of Washington Named to Capital One Academic All-District Team

Washington University in St. Louis senior infielder Paige Biles and sophomore designated player Kenzie James earned 2015 Capital One First-Team Academic All-District Five Division III Softball honors, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Biles, a first-team all-University Athletic Association (UAA) honoree, leads the conference in hits (69) and stolen bases (28), and is second in batting average (.457). She has recorded 23 multi-hit games and has reached base in 37 straight games. Biles has appeared in 166 games with a career batting average of .353, and ranks second in school history with 65 stolen bases. A three-time Academic all-UAA honoree, Biles has a 3.94 GPA while majoring in psychology.

James is batting .348 with 38 runs scored and five RBIs in 41 starts. She is second in the conference in sacrifice hits (eight) and third in stolen bases (17). A 2015 Academic all-UAA selection, James has a 3.58 GPA while majoring in linguistics.

WashU won eight of its last 10 games to finish the regular season with a 33-11 record. This is the Bears' third-straight 30-win season and 10th in school history. WashU also won its ninth UAA title after finishing in a tie at the 2014 UAA Championship Tournament with an 8-2 mark. The Bears open NCAA Tournament play at DePauw University Friday, May 8, at 3:30 p.m. (ET).

In order to be selected to an Academic All-District team, a student-athlete must possess a 3.30 cumulative GPA and be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing. As First-Team Academic All-District Team selections, Biles and James will be among the nominees for the Academic All-America Team, which will be announced Wednesday, May 27.
