Washington University in St. Louis senior infielder Paige Biles was named to the 2015 Capital One Academic All-America Division III Softball First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Biles is the eighth softball student-athlete in the 16-year history of the program to earn Academic All-America honors, and just the third to earn first-team accolades joining Liz Swary (2003, 2004, 2005) and Kelsey Neal (2014).

"What an amazing, prestigious and well deserved honor," said 10th-year head coach Leticia Pineda-Boutté. "Paige has certainly left her mark on this program and I am honored to have coached her."

A first-team National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Midwest Region and all-University Athletic Association (UAA) honoree, Biles hit .453 from the leadoff position and tied a single-season school record with 72 hits. She led the UAA in hits and stolen bases (28), and was third in runs scored (47) and batting average, and fourth in on-base percentage (.497). Biles recorded 24 multi-hit games and reached base in the final 39 games of the season.

She earned UAA Championship All-Tournament Team honors after hitting .514 (18-for-35) and leading the tournament in hits (18) and stolen bases (six.).

Biles, a Capital One First-Team Academic All-District Five selection, appeared in 168 career games with a batting average of .354. She ranks second in school history with 65 stolen bases. Biles is a three-time Academic all-UAA honoree and has a 3.94 GPA while majoring in psychology.

In order to be selected to an Academic All-America team, a student-athlete must demonstrate success on the playing field and in the classroom, with academic and athletic achievements taken into consideration. The student-athlete must possess a minimum 3.30 GPA and be at least a sophomore in academic standing.

WashU finished the 2015 season with a 33-13 overall record, and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the 13th time in the last 14 years. The Bears also won their ninth UAA title after finishing in a tie at the 2015 UAA Championship Tournament with an 8-2 mark.
