The Emory softball team split a Thursday afternoon/evening doubleheader at Short University, winning the opener by an 8-2 margin before dropping a 1-0 decision in the nightcap, which ended a 23-game Eagles winning streak. Emory now stands 32-2 on the year while Shorter posts a ledger of 23-15.

Shorter's Hannah Draper and Kalei Kimbrell combined for the shutout in the second game, with Draper improving her record to 7-5 after tossing the first five innings, allowing all three of Emory's hits while striking out four. Kimbrell held the Eagles without a hit over the final two innings, fanning one. Emory freshman Madeline Maday took the loss in the circle, hurling all six innings and surrendering five hits while whiffing five Hawks. SU scored the game's lone run in the bottom of the first when a two-out single by Taylor Ann Oda score Niki Cook. Accounting for Emory's three hits were freshman Jenna Wilson and sophomores Janelle Turnquest and Ashley Powers.

In the opener, Turnquest was one of three Eagles to hit safely twice, while driving in five runs, to spearhead the offensive attack. After the Hawks got on the board with a run in the second, Emory generated three runs in its half of the third after two were out. Cassie Baca and Melody Carter strung together back-to-back singles before Turnquest socked a three-run homer, her eighth of the campaign. The Eagles put the game out of reach the following frame with a five-run explosion, highlighted by two-run singles by Baca and Carter. Junior pitcher Brittany File got the win in the circle, raising her season record to 24-1, allowing nine hits and striking out seven.
