Annie Pitkin of Washington University Named NFCA DIII National Pitcher of the Week

For the first time this season and third time in her career, Washington University in St. Louis senior pitcher Annie Pitkin has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III National Pitcher of the Week.

Pitkin posted a 3-0 record with one save to lead WashU to four wins at the Mizuno Invitational Saturday-Sunday in St. Louis. She struck out 22 and allowed one earned run in 13 2/3 innings pitched.

Pitkin picked up complete-game victories Saturday and Sunday over Augustana College (Ill.), and also recorded a win and a save in a pair of victories over Wartburg College. She tossed a one-hitter with five strikeouts in the 11-0 win over Augustana Sunday. 

In addition, Pitkin was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Softball Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season and 13th time in her career.

Pitkin has a 12-2 record with a 1.39 earned run average in 15 appearances this season in the circle. She has struck out 133 batters in 80 2/3 innings pitched, and has limited opponents to a .157 batting average. Pitkin ranks second in NCAA Division III in strikeouts (133), third in victories, and fifth in shutouts (four) and strikeouts per seven innings (11.5).
