University of Chicago senior softball players Kristin Lopez and Devan Parkison both received Third Team All-Region honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Monday.
The senior teammates closed out their collegiate careers with their first Great Lakes All-Region accolades. Over four years in the program, UChicago's senior class compiled an overall record of 85-55 (.607 winning percentage) and qualified for the NCAA postseason twice. This season, the Maroons tallied the second-most wins (27) in program history.
From her shortstop position, Lopez finished the year with career highs in home runs (5), RBI (26) and doubles (7). She hit for a .360 batting average and tied her career-best with nine stolen bases. In the school's career records, Lopez is tied for ninth in triples (7) and home runs (8), and tied for 10th in stolen bases (35).
Parkison started every game this season in center field and in the leadoff spot for the Maroons. She batted .344 with a career-high 12 RBI while adding a team-best 16 stolen bases. Parkison departs as UChicago's all-time leader in stolen bases with 67. Her 76 runs scored and 123 hits both rank 11th in program history.
