The Emory softball team got back into the win column on Sunday afternoon with a sweep of a home doubleheader over Wesleyan College. The Eagles raised their overall record to 5-3 following a pair of five-inning decisions, posting a 9-1 verdict in the opener before coming away with a 13-1 outcome in the finale.

The Eagles pounded out 14 safeties in the first contest with five players hitting safely twice. Sophomore centerfielder Sarah Flanders picked up two hits and drove in three runs while senior right fielder Amy Wray and freshman third baseman Jessie Michael each registered a pair of RBIs.  Wesleyan got on the board with a run in the top of the first before the Eagles plated three runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings. Flanders led off the third with a single and later scored on a one-out single by Wray. 

Later in the frame, Michael stroke a two-out double that scored sophomore Sam Vincent and Wray. In the fourth a triple by senior left fielder Taylor Forte pushed home designated player Jenna Wilson with the team's fourth run. The Eagles closed the game out in the fifth when a double by Flanders scored two runs and a single by Wray accounted for the final score. Senior pitcher Brittany File earned the win, going four innings and striking out eight in raising her record to 3-1.

Sophomore catcher Jessica MacWilliams was one of the offensive stars in the second game, picking a pair of hits along with four RBIs, the first two coming on a two-out single in the bottom of the first that staked Emory to a 3-1 lead. The Eagles broke the game wide open when it crossed the plate seven times. Freshman Greta Wilker led off the frame with her first career hit, a home run, while freshman Jessy McLean's single through the left side scored two more runs. MacWilliams added to the rally with a two-run single that pushed home Flanders and Wray. After a scoreless third, Emory tallied three more runs in the fourth. Sophomore Jenna Wilson collected three of Emory's 12 hits while Flanders picked up a pair.
