Andrea Nagy Promoted to Full-Time Assistant Coach at CWRU

Head Softball Coach Josie Henry has announced the promotion of Andrea Nagy to full-time Assistant Softball Coach at Case Western Reserve University.

"I am honored that [Director of Athletics] Amy Backus, Josie Henry, and the CWRU Athletic Department has offered me the opportunity to work full-time with the softball program," said Nagy. "I am excited to be able to continue working with an academically and athletically elite group of young women."

Nagy joined the Spartans as a part-time assistant for her second stint with the team in 2018, helping the squad to the most successful season in program history.  Under Nagy's leadership, Case Western Reserve finished fifth at the 2018 NCAA Division III Championships (the best finish by any team in school history), while helping the team to a program-best record of 38-12.  The Spartans finished the year ranked sixth in Division III, with the coaching staff earning NFCA Regional and UAA Coaching Staff of the Year honors.

Nagy's first stint with the Spartans during the 2014 and 2015 seasons led to similar success, with the team winning the UAA Championship and UAA Coaching Staff of the Year honors in 2014.  In between her time at CWRU, Nagy served as an Assistant Softball Coach and Graduate Assistant for the Capital University program, helping lead the team to an Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Runner-Up finish in 2017.

Nagy earned her Bachelor's Degree in Communication Management from NCAA Division I Cleveland State University in August 2012, where she also was a member of the softball team.  She was an infielder for the Vikings, helping lead the team to Horizon League Championships in 2008 and 2010, and an NCAA Regional Tournament appearance in 2009.  Nagy secured her Master's Degree in Business Administration from Capital University in 2017.

"Andrea has been a part of successful seasons we have had at CWRU in the 2018, 2015 and 2014 seasons," said Henry. "She is passionate about CWRU, the game of softball, improving our players and ultimately advancing the program to new heights.  We are thrilled to have her join our staff as a full-time coach and welcome her energy, knowledge and care for developing young student-athletes into successful leaders of the future."
