The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team recorded 21 assists on 33 baskets on its way to an 88-39 victory over Geneva College on Friday, November 21 at home in Skibo Gymnasium. The Tartans improved to 3-0 on the year as the Golden Tornadoes fell to 1-2.

The Tartans opened the game with a 10-0 run behind five points from sophomore Lisa Murphy (McLean, Va./McLean) and five points from sophomore Jackie Hudepohl (Saratoga, Calif./Lynbrook (Colgate)). When Hudepohl didn't score she assisted on both of Murphy's baskets.

The 10-point advantage was extended to 20 (34-14) with 7:25 to play in the first half when freshman Kajae Jones (Fairfax, Va./Bishop O'Connell) came up with a steal and made an outlet pass to junior Lindsay Poss (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville), who seconds later found Jones in the lane for a layup.

The Tartans went on to lead 49-21 at the break, shooting 54.8% from the field with 14 assists to 17 made shot attempts. Murphy scored 16 of her game-high 20 points in the first half as she finished 6-of-6 from the field and 8-of-9 from the free throw line for the game.

Jones pulled down four offensive rebounds in the second half as she scored nine of her season-high 15 points during the period. She finished the game with her first career double-double, collecting 14 boards.

Freshman Njaire McKoy (Englewood Cliffs, N.J./Bergen County Tech./Peddie School) had a breakthrough evening off the bench for the Tartans, grabbing seven rebounds while scoring 18 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the floor. Senior MacKenzie Boyd (Plano, Texas/Plano West) also had an efficient night, scoring 11 points and grabbing five boards while freshman Zoe Zawisa (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) scored a season-high 10 points, making two three pointers.

Poss contributed to the Tartans' 61-30 rebounding advantage, crashing the defensive glass for eight rebounds while totalling 12.

Geneva was led by Heidi Mann with 20 points and seven rebounds.
