Lisa Murphy of Carnegie Mellon Honored Again; This Time by ECAC

Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball sophomore Lisa Murphy (McLean, Va./McLean) was named to the ECAC Division III Women's South Basketball All-Star Team. The sophomore earned a spot on the first team as she pulled in her second regional award of the year.

Murphy, who also earned second-team all-region honors from D3hoops.com, finished the season as the only player in Carnegie Mellon women's basketball history to average at least 20 points and 10 rebounds in a season and became just the second player to average a double-double when she finished with 20.2 points and 10.2 rebounds a game. She led the UAA in five categories, including points per game, rebounds per game, blocks per game (2.8), double-doubles (13) and field-goal percentage (.664). She was second in free-throw percentage (.834) and offensive rebounds per game (3.8).

Murphy led the nation in field-goal percentage and broke her own single-season school records in the same category along with total points with 505, field goals made with 182, and free throws made with 141. She became the new single-season record holder in blocked shots with 70 and set the school and UAA single-game record for blocks with 10 against Brandeis University. During the year she also set new career highs in rebounds with 21 at Marietta and free throws made with 13 at the University of Rochester.
