From Carnegie Mellon University Athletics
Carnegie Mellon University head women's basketball coach Jacquie Hullah is happy to announce the addition of recent graduate Jacquie Shaw to her staff. Shaw played four seasons for the Tartans, three under Coach Hullah, and graduated in May 2014.
As a player, Shaw was a four-year starter who scored 914 points, hauled in 487 rebounds, dished out 211 assists and collected 151 steals and 89 blocked shots. She twice finished a season with a scoring average in double figures, including her final season where she averaged 11.3 points on 53.0% shooting on her way to being named to the All-University Athletic Association Honorable Mention Team.
"I'm really excited to be working again with my former teammates and hope to have a positive impact on their success," Shaw said. "Basketball strategy, as well as practice planning and scouting, have always been interesting to me and to have the opportunity to see it from a coach's perspective, rather than a player, is intriguing."
Shaw's responsibilities will include day-to-day practice preparation, film analysis for scouting and on-campus recruiting.
"Jacquie is the perfect complement to my coaching staff," Hullah said. "She has a strong conceptual knowledge of the game, experience with our system and style of play and the understanding of my coaching philosophy. I observed her mentoring younger players on the court during her playing career and was impressed with her ability to communicate and teach the fundamentals of the game."
Shaw is continuing her education at Carnegie Mellon, pursuing her master's degree in mechanical engineering.
"This is a win-win scenario for both Jacquie and our program," Hullah continued. "She is well respected by her former teammates and as an alumna of Carnegie Mellon University Women's Basketball she can offer recruits a unique perspective on the extraordinary opportunities at CMU."
