Emory's Khadijah Sayyid Earns All-Region Honors

Emory University junior Khadijah Sayyid (Longmont, CO) has been recognized as an All-South Region honoree as by selected by D3hoops.com

The 5-foot-2 Sayyid, garnered a berth on the second team following a solid campaign that saw her lead the team and rank fourth among University Athletic Association  players with a 14.6 points-per-game average.  Her 364 total points slotted her in the No. 13 position on the school's seasonal ladder while her scoring average ranked 14th.  Selected to the All-UAA First Team, Sayyid paced the Eagles and stood fifth on the league ladder in rebounding (7.6 rpg), and produced a team-best 2.6 steals per contest, good for second in the conference.

Sayyid registered double-figure scoring in 18 contests and reached or surpassed the 20-point mark on seven occasions.  She either led or shared for team scoring honors in 17 outings and was the team leader in rebounding 15 times.  She recorded a team-high six double-doubles, three of which came during the league portion of the schedule.  Tabbed as the UAA Defensive Player of the Year, she was chosen as the UAA Player of the Week three times.  Her 65 steals were the fifth-highest seasonal total in program history, and after three years in an Emory uniform her 171 thefts are seventh all-time.

Emory finished the year with an overall record of 12-13.
