From NYU Athletics
The New York University women's basketball team defeated the
College of Staten Island 82-66 at home on Wednesday night, November
19, at the Jerome S. Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.
"A lot of credit goes to Staten island," said NYU Head
Coach Lauren Hall-Gregory. "They came out, played
hard and had a good game plan. They have a lot of tough payers on
their team."
The Violets (3-0) and Dolphins (1-1) played to a five-point NYU
lead, 37-32, after a hard-fought first half for both squads.
NYU was ahead by only one point, 42-41, when they outscored Staten
Island 14-0 to take a commanding lead. The advantage grew to as
many as 21 in the second half.
"We hit the offensive boards really hard and had more of an
inside presence in the second half," continued Hall-Gregory. "I
think the strength of our team is really in the paint."
The Violets outscored CSI 40-10 in the paint and held a 54-32
rebounding advantage.

and pulled it out."
