Megan Dawe, Kaitlyn Read Named ECAC Metro All-Stars

From NYU Athletics

Megan Dawe and Kaitlyn Read of the New York University women's basketball team were both named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Metro All-Star Team on Wednesday, April 8. Both Violets were recognized with Second Team honors.

Dawe finished her junior season averaging a team-best 12.7 points per game and ranked third on the squad averaging 5.5 rebounds per game. The captain also eclipsed the 1,000 career points mark, becoming the first Violet to do so since NYU Hall of Famer Jessica McEntee in 2009.

This is the fourth postseason honor for Dawe, who earned First Team All-University Athletic Association (UAA), Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division III Honorable Mention All-America and Second Team All-Met honors from the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA).

Read, a 5-foot-8 guard, led NYU in steals (3.3 spg) and was second in scoring (11.7 ppg), rebounding (6.5 rpg), assists (3.0 apg), three-point shooting (33.3 pct), and minutes (27.8 mpg). Additionally, the sophomore started every game for the second consecutive season.

This is also the fourth postseason honor for Read, who joined her teammate Dawe as First Team All-UAA and was also recognized twice by D3hoops.com. She started by garnering First Team All-East Region accolades, followed by Honorable Mention All-America honors.

The duo helped lead the women's squad to a 22-5 overall record and to the second round of the 2015 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship.
