Kaitlyn Read of the New York University women's
basketball team was named Eastern College Athletic Conference
(ECAC) Metro Player of the Week on Tuesday, January 6.
The sophomore guard helped lead the #8(D3hoops.com)/#9(USA Today
Coaches Poll), ranked Violets to a 2-0 record at the 2015 NYU
Holiday Classic over the past weekend, earning All-Classic honors
for her efforts.
Read began the weekend with an NYU Holiday Classic-record-tying
seven steals, as well as seven rebounds, four points, one assist,
and one block in the Violets' 69-49 win over Swarthmore
College on Saturday. She followed that up with a game-high 16
points, a game-best-tying six assists, a game-high-tying four
steals, four rebounds, and a game-leading two blocks en route to
NYU's 88-56 victory vs. William Smith College on Sunday.
Read leads the University Athletic Association (UAA) in steals per
game (4.6) and is second in assists per game (4.1).
This is Read's second career ECAC weekly honor and her first this
season.
