Lindsey Oldshue Represents NYU and USA in Brazil

From NYU Athletics

Just as a pair of her teammates had done last summer, Lindsey Oldshue of the New York University women's basketball team received a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to represent the United States of America, as well as Division III collegiate athletics. The rising-junior forward was one of 10 student-athletes selected to the 2015 USA D-3 Women's Basketball Team.

The squad competed on the "Brazil Tour," which began on July 21 in Orlando, FL, for orientation and practice. The team then departed for Sao Paulo, Brazil, on July 22 for three exhibition contests against Brazilian club teams. Team USA then traveled to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for one final contest before they returned to Orlando on July 30.

"This is an outstanding group of basketball players who come from nine different states and 14 different colleges and universities from across the United States," said Ron Smith, Director of USA Sports Tours & Events. "We feel that we have some of the best of the best representing almost every region in the country. These players have been high achievers both on the court and in the classroom. They represent everything good that the NCAA Division III institutions have to offer."

Oldshue has started all 53 games the Violets have played since her arrival to the program and helped lead NYU to a 42-11 overall record, including a 19-9 mark in the University Athletic Association (UAA). The Violets have also earned two berths into the NCAA Division III Championship. This past season, the 6-foot, Glenview, IL, native ranked second on NYU's squad in minutes per game (25.1), fourth in blocks (9) and fifth in rebounds per game (3.0). In 2013-14 as a rookie, Oldshue notched one-game career highs in points (21), rebounds (17), steals (4), assists (5), blocks (3), and minutes (35).
