Freshman forward Alexandra Leslie of the University of Rochester
women's basketball team was honored by the University Athletic
Association as the conference's women's basketball Athlete of the
Week on Monday.
The first year player was also honored by D3hoops.com to the
women's Team of the Week, the first UR player to be named to the
weekly All-Star team this season.
Leslie enjoyed a solid weekend in which Rochester went 1-1, with
the win coming on Friday night against #8 ranked New York
University. The 6-2 freshman scored a total of 39 points
(19.5 avg) over two games, shooting 10-24 from the floor (41.6%),
19-21 from the free throw line (90.5%) while grabbing 19 rebounds
(9.5 avg) and swatting 5 blocks.
On Friday night in the upset over the Violets, Leslie matched her
career high with 28 points (8-14 FG, 12-13 FT) and grabbed 13
rebounds for her sixth double-double of the 2014-15 season.
Against NYU, she also dished out a career high six assists and
nailed 7-8 free throws in the final minute to clinch UR Head Coach
Jim Scheible's 300th win on the Rochester sidelines. On
Sunday, she led Rochester with 11 points and blocked a career high
four shots in the loss to Brandeis. It was her 17th game
scoring at least 10 points this season.
