Rochester's Balance Overcomes Oswego, 82-59

Tylar Guerrieri pulled down a career best 14 rebounds and added seven points to spark the University of Rochester to an 82-59 victory over SUNY Oswego at the Max Ziel Gymnasium on Tuesday night.

Rochester's victory means the Yellowjackets will go into next week's Wendy's College Classic unbeaten. UR is 5-0. Oswego is 1-2. Rochester is among Others Receiving Votes this week in the Division III poll conducted by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. 

Kelsey Hurley scored eight of her team-high 13 points in the last four minutes of the first half as UR opened a 40-29 lead. Rochester closed the half on a 14-5 run, getting eight from Hurley, three from Emily Lewis, and a three-pointer from Ally Zywicki.

Lewis grabbed nine rebounds, added five points and four steals in 14 minutes. Al Leslie had 12 points, and Zywicki finished with 11, including three 3-pointers.

Mary Mazella scored 16 points for Oswego and Rachael Windhausen had 15 points.

With Guerrieri and Lewis setting the pace on the boards, Rochester held a 54-46 rebounding advantage. The Yellowjackets scored 25 second chance points to 11 for the Lakers. UR made 17 steals of 24 Oswego turnovers and that led to 31 points.

Rochester played 15 individuals and 10 of them played 10 or more minutes. Mary Kronenwetter had three steals. Kayla Kibling had nine points, hitting three 3-pointrers, added four rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

A layup from Windhausen gave Oswego its last lead at 19-17 with just under 12 minutes left in the first half. Hurley fed Leslie for a tying layup and Kibling drained a 3-pointer from Sarah Kaminsky to push Rochester in front, 22-19.
