The Brandeis University women's basketball team got all Sydney Sodine's (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills East) team-high 12 points in the first half as the Judges never trailed in a 60-52 non-conference victory over Husson University today in Red Auerbach Arena. With the win, the Judges improve to 5-4, while the Eagles see a five-game winning streak snapped as they fall to 5-2.

Sodine was a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor in the first 20 minutes while also hitting two free throws. The Judges also got double scoring from two bench players, as senior Heather Cain (Gloucester, Mass./Gloucester) and junior Frankie Pinto (Sam Clemente, Calif./San Clemente) each scored 11 as they combined to shoot 7-for-14 overall and 5-for-9 from 3-point range. Fifteen of their 22 points came in the first half as the Judge reserves outscored the Eagles, 24-6, for the game.

Brandeis also enjoyed a 47-32 rebounding advantage, with junior Maria Jackson (Rochester, N.Y./Hilton) grabbing a game-high 12 caroms. It was her sixth career game with double-digit rebounds. Sodine added seven rebounds. Junior Paris Hodges(Southampton, N.Y./Southampton) led all players with four assists.

Husson got a game-high scoring performance from senior Victoria McIntyre (Mars Hill, Maine/Central Aroostook), who notched 17 points on 5-of-18 from the field, 3-of-11 from downtown and 4-of-5 from the line. Most of her points came in the fourth quarter as she outscored the Judges by herself, 12-9. Rookie Kenzie Worcester (Washburn, Maine/Washburn) added 12 points. McIntyre also led the visitors with six rebounds, while junior Chandler Guerette (Presque Isle, Maine/Presque Isle) had two assists.

Brandeis never trailed in the game, scoring the first six points. They led by as many as 12 points after back-to-back 3-pointers by Pinto and Cain and took a 20-9 lead into the first break. Pinto's second and third trifectas of the game came midway through the second period, giving the Judges a 32-16 lead. After the Eagles cut into the margin Cain and senior Niki Laskaris (Swampscott, Mass./Swampscott) dialed long distance late in the stanza to put the Judges ahead, 40-23 at the break, their largest lead of the game.

Worcester scored the first five points of the second half for Husson to close the gap, but the Judges still owned a 16-point lead after three quarters. McIntyre's big fourth quarter helped Husson get within single digits in the final two minutes, but it wasn't enough as the Judges improved to 6-0 all-time against the Eagles.
