Carnegie Mellon moves to 16-5 overall and 5-5 in UAA play while the Maroons are now 12-9, 4-6.

Senior Lindsay Poss's (Poolesville, Md.) three-point basket at the 6:37 mark of the first quarter put the Tartans on top 10-3.  Over the next two minutes, Chicago scored eight consecutive points and grabbed an 11-10 lead.  The rest of the quarter saw the lead change four times with one tie, as Chicago scored the last five points of the frame and took a 25-20 advantage.

Carnegie Mellon opened the second quarter on an 8-1 run, as Poss scored five of her 10 first half points during the stretch.  Chicago scored on its next two possessions and retook the lead which they held until the final minute of play in the half.  With 58 seconds left, sophomore Zoe Zawisa (Baltimore, Md /Bryn Mawr) drained a trey to put the Tartans up 39-38.  The Maroons connected on a jumper to regain the lead, but junior Lisa Murphy's (McLean, Va./McLean) foul shot with 13.8 seconds on the clock knotted the score at 40-40.  Chicago turned the ball over on the ensuing possession and with no time on the clock Carnegie Mellon's sophomore Anna Novak (San Antonia, Texas/Alamo Heights) was fouled and hit both from the charity stripe to give the Tartans a 42-40 lead at the break.

The Tartans opened the second half on a 10-4 run and took their largest lead of the game at 52-44 on a layup by senior Liza Otto (Glastonbury, Conn.) at the midway point of the third quarter.  The Maroons trailed 62-56 with 30 seconds left in the quarter before scoring the last five points including a three-pointer by Elizabeth Nye with six seconds left to trail 62-61 after three quarters of play.

Four minutes into the fourth quarter, Chicago took the lead for the first time since late in the first half when Nye connected on her fifth triple of the contest making the score 70-69.  The Tartans trailed 79-77 with 6.1 seconds left, and following a visitor timeout, junior Jackie Hudepohl (Saratoga, Calif./Lynbrook (Colgate)) took the inbound pass and drove the lane and banked in the tying basket with 1.5 seconds left to send the game into overtime.

The Tartans only took one shot in the overtime frame as Poss completed the traditional three-point play to give the Tartans an 83-79 lead a minute into play.  The Tartans' foul shooting took over from there and sealed the overtime victory.
