Eagles Roll Past Agnes Scott, 82-25, for Fifth Consecutive Win

The Emory University women's basketball team coasted to their fifth straight win on Tuesday night, an 82-25 decision over Agnes Scott College.With the win, the Eagles moved to 6-1 on the season while the Scotties dropped to 1-8.

Emory shot 44.9% (35-for-78) from the field including a 50.0% (8-for-16) mark from three point land in the win. The Eagles had 25 assists on their 35 field goals and forced 27 turnovers. Agnes Scott was held to an abysmal 14.0% (6-for-43) from the floor and made just two field goals the entire second half. Emory also had the edge on the rebounding front, outrebounding the Scotties 54-35.

Emory was led by freshman Ashley Oldshue who posted a game-high 18 points on 9-of-11 shooting to go along with seven rebounds. Junior Michelle Bevan had 12 points with eight boards while freshman Azzairia Jackson-Sherrod grabbed eight rebounds as well and scored seven points. Junior Shellie Kaniut and sophomore Lauren Weemsboth chipped in with seven points of their own. Senior Ilene Tsao and sophomore Caroline Spurr led both squads with four assists. Six Eagles recorded at least two steals with sophomore Camille Steger swiping a game-high of four.

Emory jumped out to a 21-4 lead after the opening 10 minutes and never looked back. The Blue and Gold continued their hot start in the second period, beginning the frame on a 17-2 run and ballooned their lead to 40-13 heading into halftime. After the break, Emory opened the third quarter on a 11-0 run through the first 6:25 of the third quarter for a 51-13 lead and led by 40, 62-22, entering the fourth. The fourth period was more of the same defensive dominance by the Eagles as Agnes Scott was unable to make a field goal and was held to just three points over the final 10 minutes as Emory outscored the Scotties by a 20-3 margin to provide the 82-25 final.
