Washington University in St. Louis head women's basketball coach Nancy Fahey has been selected as the lead clinician for the 2016 USA Basketball Women's U17 World Championship Team Trials, as announced Monday by USA Basketball.

The trials will take place Thursday-Monday, May 26-30, at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

"We are extremely pleased to have Nancy Fahey return as the lead clinician. Not only is she an experienced and successful coach at Washington University, she also returns after having been the lead clinician for the 2015 trials," said Carol Callan, USA Women's National Team Director and chair of the USA Basketball Women's Developmental National Team Committee. "Her teaching skills and enthusiasm will benefit every player at trials. Additionally, we will have Carla, Pam and Steve, each highly successful coaches with their respective programs, as court coaches to make sure that each athlete receives quality one-on-one interaction and instruction."

The trials are expected to feature 154 basketball players from throughout the country who will take part in skill sessions, performance seminars and scrimmage sessions. The players will be competing for one of 12 roster spots on the 2016 USA Basketball Women's U17 National Team, which will play in the FIBA Americas U17 Championship from June 22-July 2 in Zaragoza, Spain.

Fahey, who has a 711-130 (.845 winning percentage) in 30 seasons at WashU, will guide the players during the skill sessions at the trials. She previously served as an assistant coach for the 1995 U.S. Olympic Festival South Team and lead clinician for the 2015 Women's U16 World Championship Team Trials.

"It is an honor and privilege to work with these outstanding student-athletes and USA basketball. My experience last year only makes me want to work harder to reach our goals.," Fahey said. "I am also excited to work with and learn from an outstanding coaching staff.  It is one of my true highlights in my 34 years of coaching."

Fahey will lead skills sessions May 25-27 while the court coaches will assist the coaching staff, who are also making a return from last year's 2015 USA U16 National Team. Head coach Dori Oldaker (Mt. Lebanon H.S., Pa.) will be assisted by Dianne Lewis (Thomas Edison H.S. Va.) and Samantha Quigley (University of St. Francis).

In her 30 seasons at WashU, Fahey has led the Bears to 28 NCAA Tournament appearances and is the only coach in NCAA Division III history to win five national championships. She was also the first NCAA Division III representative to be inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012.

WashU finished the season with a 23-6 overall record and advanced to the NCAA Sectional Championship for the first time since 2011 before falling at No. 1 Thomas More College. The Bears also won the University Athletic Association (UAA) for the third year in a row and 22nd time in program history.
