Kaitlyn Read of NYU Named D3hoops All-East Region

Kaitlyn Read of New York University's women's basketball team garnered D3hoops.com All-East Region honors, which were announced on Monday, March 14.

Read, who was named to the Second Team, helped lead the women's squad to the second round of the 2016 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship and a 19-8 overall record, including 7-7 in the University Athletic Association. The junior adds this honor to her already-extensive list of career accolades from D3hoops.com. In 2013-14, Read was also selected to the Second Team and earned East Region Rookie of the Year honors. The following year, the University Park, TX, native was chosen to the First Team along with being named Honorable Mention All-America.

This season, Read earned her third-consecutive First Team All-UAA honor and was NYU's first-ever UAA Defensive Player of the Year. She also received several honors from both the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) honors.

The 5-foot-8 guard led NYU in scoring (16.7 pg), rebounding (7.6 rpg) and steals (3.3 spg). Read also led the UAA in steals and was second in scoring.
