University of Rochester sophomores Al Leslie and Lauren Deming have been elected to the D3hoops.com All-East Region team.
 
Leslie was named the East Region Player of the Year and First Team All-East. She is a resident of Lancaster, PA and an alumnus of Manheim Township High School. Deming was named Third Team All-East. She is a resident of Waterloo, New York and an alumnus of Waterloo High School.
 
Six women's players from the University Athletic Association were chosen for All-Region honors by D3hoops.com. Leslie is one of three to earn First Team honors. The others are Lisa Murphy of Carnegie Mellon (Great Lakes Region) and Jordan Thompson of Washington (MO) (Central Region).
 
In addition to Deming's selection as a Third Team All-East member, the D3hoops.com voters named Kaitlyn Read of NYU to the East Region Second Team and Amanda Martinez of Washington to the Central Region Second Team.
 
In her freshman season in 2014-15, Leslie was selected as the D3hoops.com East Region Rookie of the Year and Second Team All-East Region. She was eventually named as the D3hoops.com National Rookie of the Year. She was chosen as the University Athletic Association Rookie of the Year and First Team All-UAA. She became the first Rochester basketball player – male or female – to be named Rookie of the Year and First Team All-Association in the same year.
 
As a sophomore, Leslie was named UAA Co-Player of the Year (with Murphy of CMU) and First Team All-UAA. Deming was named Second Team All-UAA. With them as the top two on the scoring chart, Rochester finished the UAA campaign in second place behind Washington (10-4 to 11-3). The Yellowjackets hosted a first-round pod in the NCAA Division III playoffs, defeating Johnson & Wales, 79-49, and Stockton University, 67-59.
 
Rochester advanced to the Sectional Semifinals and earned a 60-53 victory over Bowdoin College. In the quarterfinals (Elite 8), the Yellowjackets lost to fourth-ranked Amherst College, 78-50. It marked the fourth time that Rochester reached the quarterfinal round. The most recent trip came six years ago (2009-10) when the Yellowjackets advanced to the national semifinals (Final Four).
 
In 2015-16, the Yellowjackets finished with a record of 23-6. It is the sixth time – in 46 years – that Rochester won at least 23 games. It is also the 14th season with 20 or more victories.
 
For the season, Leslie led Rochester with a 15.5 ppg. scoring average. She topped the team in rebounding average (9.5 rpg.), blocked shots (36) and free throw percentage (130-148, .878). She is 19th in career scoring (831 points) and her free throw percentage this year (.878) is a single-season record. She started every game.
 
Deming played in all 29 games, starting 27 of them. She finished second in scoring (11.1 ppg.) and rebounding (5.5 rpg.). She had 40 assists, 28 blocks (second to Leslie), and 34 steals (third overall). She made 43% of her floor shots (122-284), 61% of her free throw attempts (55-90), and was 24 of 71 beyond the arc (.338).
