45 Bench Points helps #9 Rochester Defeat #14 NYU

This #9 ranked University of Rochester's women's basketball team defeated the #14 ranked New York University 85-55 this afternoon at the Louis Alexander Palestra.

Rochester improves to 18-4 overall and 8-3 in the UAA Conference. NYU falls to 17-5 overall and 6-5 in the UAA. NYU has now lost four straight conference matchups.

Mary Kronenwetter led the way for the Yellowjackets scoring a career high 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 blocks in just 12 minutes off the bench. Three other players finish with double figures for UR; Kelsey Hurley finished with 12 points, Al Leslie finished with 10 points, and Lauren Deming pithed in 10 points as well. Tylar Guerrieri had a monster day on the boards grabbing 12 and scoring 4 off the bench.

Rochester's defense was the key going into halftime. The Yellowjackets held the Violets to just 2 points in the second quarter. NYU did not have made field goal in the quarter till less than one minute remaining. Rochester held NYU to just 24% (15-62) shooting in the game and limited their second chance points to just 5 in the game.

The bench for Rochester stepped up huge today outscoring NYU's bench 45-5 in the game. The Yellowjackets shot 49% (27-55) in the game, as well as 88% (22-25) from the free-throw line. UR's largest lead in the game was 33, coming midway through the fourth quarter. Today, was the best shooting day for UR this season. 

Leading the way for NYU was Megan Dawe finishing with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Riley Wurtz pitched in 10 points and Kaitlyn Read pitched in 7 points and 7 rebounds.
