Michelle Bilek Joins NYU Coaching Staff

From NYU Athletics

Michelle Bilek has been added as an assistant coach of the New York University women's basketball team and will aid in all facets of the program.

Bilek joins the staff after serving as the Director of Basketball Operations at Columbia University since 2013, where her responsibilities included coordination of travel arrangements, assisting in the organization of practice, budget management, alumni relations, video coordination, and special projects.

"We are thrilled to have Michelle join our program. She has a reputation as a tireless worker and being fiercely loyal," said Head Coach Lauren Hall-Gregory. "Given her experience of playing on a National Championship Division III team and her experience coaching at a high-academic university, she stood out amongst other candidates as the perfect fit."

A 2013 graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in interdisciplinary education, child and family studies, Bilek was a four-year member of the basketball team. A guard who served as captain during her senior campaign, Bilek helped the Titans advance to the Final Four of the 2011 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament and win the title the following year.

Bilek brings a great deal of basketball camp counseling experience to her new position. She worked seven summers at Loyola Academy in Wilmette, IL, one at Trinity High School in River Forest, IL, and one at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Additionally, Bilek served a physical education teacher internship for the 2012-13 school year and worked as an Assistant to the Athletic Office at Loyola Academy during the summer of 2012.

"I am very excited to join Coach Hall-Gregory and the women's basketball program," Bilek said. "I have great respect for this academic, prestigious institution and the great basketball tradition that has been created here."

A Mt. Prospect, IL, native, Bilek resides in Manhattan.
