Emory Pushes Win Streak to Five With 89-43 Victory Over Mary Baldwin

Sophomore Azzairia Jackson-Sherrod scored a career-high 18 points and sophomore Ashley Oldshue recorded her second career double-double as Emory University extended its winning streak to five games with an 89-43 drubbing over Mary Baldwin University on Sunday afternoon at the Woodruff PE Center.

Jackson-Sherrod netted her 18 points in 20 minutes off the bench, going 9-of-12 from the floor to lead five Eagles in double figures. She added seven rebounds in the contest. Olshue posted 12 points and grabbed a game-high 10 boards for Emory (5-0). Senior Shellie Kaniut added 16 points on 8-of-13 shooting while classmate Fran Sweeney had 14 points, six rebounds and four steals. Frehsman Erin Lindahl chipped in with 11 points to round out the Eagles in double figures. Freshman Lindsey Tse dished out a game-high 10 assists as Emory finished the contest with 29 helpers. Freshman Safiya Dzotsi paced all players with six steals as the Eagles tied a season-high with 17 thefts.

Nicole Blackburn tallied 14 points to lead the Fighting Squirrels with Anna Ramirez finishing with seven points and Kearsten Brazeal adding six in 18 minutes off the bench.

The Eagles raced out to a 25-0 lead before Mary Baldwin (1-4) converted their first field goal attempt at the 4:27 mark of the opening quarter. Emory never looked back, leading 31-4 after the first quarter and 56-16 at halftime. The Eagles' lead extended to as many as 52 points at 85-33 midway through the fourth.
