Sophomore Madeline Homoly of the Washington University in St. Louis women's basketball team was honored by two organizations over the weekend earning Fourth-Team All-American honors by D3hoops.com and All-American honorable mention accolades from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and the Women's DIII News.
Homoly was an integral part of the 2016-17 women's basketball team that finished the season with a 26-3 overall record that earned the 23rd University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship in school history while advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals.
The Kansas City, Mo.-native was a First-Team All-UAA selection and was an All-Central Region First-Team honoree. She led the Bears with a 14.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. She hit 51.8 percent of her shots from the field (170-328) and 69.6 percent from the free throw line (78-112). Homoly also led the Bears with 37 steals.
Homoly's WBCA All-American honorable mention accolade is the second straight season WashU has earned the honor. Last season guard Amanda Martinez also earned an All-American honorable mention by the WBCA. Homoly is the first Bear to earn D3hoops.com's honor since Melissa Gilkey was named to the Second-Team in 2014-15.
