One day after flexing its defensive muscle, the University of Chicago women's basketball turned right back around on Saturday and put on an offensive showcase to blow past Hanover College 113-83.

The Maroons (2-0) have now defeated their two opponents this season by an average of 29 points. The previous school record of 101 points was achieved during the 1985-86 and 1992-93 seasons. The Panthers dropped to 0-2.

Freshman forward Taylor Lake and senior forward Britta Nordstrom were both named to the McWilliams Classic All-Tournament Team at the end of the weekend's games.

An early 7-3 deficit was erased in short order thanks to the fast pace that carried throughout the game. The Maroons capped a 14-1 run to go ahead 17-8. Hanover answered back to get within three points at 23-20, but UChicago went into the second quarter ahead 32-26.

The second quarter saw Lake get her offensive rhythm. Lake posted eight points in less than four minutes to put her team up 42-30. A 19-6 UChicago run placed the team in the driver's seat, and the Maroons went into halftime leading 58-40.

UChicago continued to pour in the points in the second half, scoring 27 in the third quarter and 28 in the fourth quarter. The Maroons were deadly from inside the three-point arc, making 64 percent of those field goals in the game. The team's largest lead was 35 points in the final two minutes of the game.

Dominance down low extended to the rebounding battle, which UChicago almost doubled up at 47-25. Points in the paint were similarly lopsided at 78-38. Turnovers finished at 29 for Hanover and 19 for UChicago.

The Maroons shot 58.7 percent overall from the field. Lake came off the bench to tally her first collegiate double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Nordstrom put up 19 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals for a well-rounded effort. Junior guard Elizabeth Nye scored 14 points off the bench and freshman guard Miranda Burt contributed 13 points of her own.
