Lauren Hall-Gregory Resigns as NYU Women's Basketball Coach

From NYU Athletics

Lauren Hall-Gregory, who took over as Head Coach of the New York University women's basketball team prior to the 2012-13 season, has resigned effective June 11.

The Vienna, VA, native led the Violets to a 103-58 record, which included three NCAA Division III Tournament appearances and two postseason Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship bids.

"I am appreciative of the work Lauren has put into NYU women's basketball for the past six seasons," said Christopher Bledsoe, NYU's Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and Director of Athletics. "We wish Lauren and her family continued happiness going forward. A national search will commence immediately."

The Violets won at least 20 games and advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament twice during Hall-Gregory's tenure.

In her final campaign in 2017-18, Hall-Gregory led NYU to an 18-11 record and to the finals of the ECAC Championship Tournament.

"I want to thank the administration for giving me the opportunity to lead the NYU women's basketball program. They gave me the chance to live out my dream," Hall-Gregory said. "I am also appreciative to my assistant coaches and players who put their blood and sweat into this program and provided a life-changing experience for me professionally and personally."

Hall-Gregory's wife, Colleen Mullen, has accepted the position of Head Women's Basketball Coach at the University of Albany, and the family will be moving to upstate New York.

"I am excited about the next part of our family's journey," Hall-Gregory added.

Hall-Gregory leaves NYU with the third-most wins and the second-highest winning percentage (.639) in program history.
