NYU Races Past John Jay

From NYU Athletics

The New York University women's basketball team defeated John Jay College 101-35 on Saturday, November 25, at "The Doghouse" on the west side of Manhattan.

NYU (3-1) scored the first 23 points of the game and never looked back, leading by as many as 69 late in the fourth quarter.

Nineteen Violets saw action in the victory, including Katie Foos who came off the bench to score 18 points. Foos, who made her collegiate debut on Saturday, scored all of her points from three-point range, hitting 6-for-8 from deep.

"We were able to play a lot of girls today, and they all made the most of their opportunity," said Head Coach Lauren Hall-Gregory.

NYU led 30-5 after one quarter and 58-18 at halftime. John Jay (0-4) scored 11-straight points late in the first half, but Reiko Johnson's layup as time expired put the visitors ahead by 40 heading into halftime.

The Violets continued their dominance in the second half when Foos drained four of her triples. As a team, NYU shot 52% (13-for-25) from deep and 55.8% (43-for-77) from the field.

Becky Pund (12 points) and Lauren Brown (10 points) joined Foos in double figures for the Violets. Christianne Perez scored 18 to lead the Bloodhounds.
