Ten Violets found their way into the scoring column as the New York University women's basketball team posted its second-straight road win, defeating host York College 102-54 on Tuesday, January 15, in Queens, NY.
York (3-13) scored the first four points of the contest, but NYU (9-4) answered with a 33-2 run and led by 27 after the first quarter. Katie Foos scored 15 of her game- and career-high 27 points in the first 10 minutes as the Violets shot 12-of-21 (57.1%) from the field and 6-of-12 (50.0%) from three-point range.
NYU extended its lead to 57-27 at halftime and led by 39 after three quarters, before ultimately winning the game by 48 points.
The Violets dished out a season-high 28 assists on 39 made field goals, while turning the ball over a season-low eight times. Annie Barrett tied her career high with nine assists to lead the way.
Lauren Gast and Bianca Notarainni each pulled down a team-high seven rebounds to lead the way on the glass for NYU, who out-rebounded the Cardinals 45-33 in the win.
The 102 points was the most scored by an NYU squad since a 104-59 victory over Alfred University on November 18, 2006.
