NYU Competes at U.S. Collegiate Squad Championships

The New York University women's fencing team competed at the U.S. Collegiate Squad Championships on Sunday, February 23, at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA.

The Violets fenced against five different schools including #7 Penn. In epee, NYU finished fourth by beating Yale University, then losing to the hosts and eventually falling to Boston College in the bronze-medal match.

In sabre, the Violets placed sixth after losing to Yale, beating BC and then falling to Penn. NYU closed out the tournament in foil, finishing fifth after losing to Brandeis 45-42 and then beating both Farleigh Dickinson University and Yale.

Highlights:

Alyssa Parkhurst scored 23 points for NYU epee in their 41-39 win over Yale, putting them on path to finish fourth.

- In their foil match against University Athletic Association (UAA) rival Brandeis, the Violets led for most of the competiton before Brandeis took the lead late and eventually won.
