From Brandeis University Athletics

The Brandeis women's fencing team went 1-2 on Wednesday evening at the 2017 Beanpot Tournament.

On the women's side, Harvard opened with a 21-6 victory.  Foil was the closest weapon at 6-3, while epee was 7-2 and saber 8-1. Against the host Eagles, Brandeis was swept again, with saber and epee suffering narrow 5-4 defeats, while foil fell, 6-3. The Judges closed the night with a 15-12 win over rival MIT thanks to the foil squad, which provided an 8-1 win to offset a 5-4 saber loss and a 6-3 defeat in epee. Harvard finished 3-0, BC was 2-1, Brandeis finished 1-2 and MIT was 0-3 on the evening.

The top individual performer was sophomore foilist Joanne Carminucci (Brewster, N.Y./North Salem), who was 7-2 overall.
