The New York University fencing teams have completed competition at the NCAA Championships, which were held at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum in Indianapolis, IN, from Thursday, March 23, through Sunday, March 26.
Anastasiya Muravyeva and Oliwia Szmilo of the women's team represented NYU on the last day of the Championships on Sunday.
Five members of the Violets' men team competed on Thursday and Friday.
On Sunday, both Muravyeva (foil) and Szumilo (sabre) completed their two days of competition. Muravyeva posted a 13th-place finish, just one spot away from All-American status. Oliwia took 16th in sabre, with both fencers winning 10 bouts over the two days.
Overall, the duo compiled 20 points, which were added to the men's total of 47 accumulated over the first two days of competition. NYU's overall score of 67 points were good for 11th place in the 20-team competition, NYU's best national finish since 2005 (ninth place).
Stanford University finished just ahead of NYU in 10th place with 78 points.
The University of Notre Dame won the title with 186 points.
