The New York University women's fencing team was defeated by Stevens Institute of Technology 17-10 on Tuesday, February 21, in Hoboken, NJ.
The Violets fell 5-4 in sabre and epee, and lost 7-2 in foil.
Leading the way for NYU was junior Stephanie Cunningham. The St. Louis, MO, native went 3-0 in epee.
"A few close matches did not go our way, but we were definitely in it fighting hard," said NYU Assistant Coach Lauren Willock Wunderlich.
OTHER HIGHLIGHTS
- Senior Cydney Williams (foil) and freshman Audrey Edgington (sabre) each won their lone match of the evening.
- Sophomores Jacqueline Tubbs and Maria Free, and freshman Oliwia Szumilo all went 1-1 in sabre.
