The New York University women's fencing team went to Philadelphia, PA, on Saturday, October 27, to participate in the Temple Open.

In the Violets' first meet of the season, the squad produced two top-10 finishers.

In foil, freshman Sarah Prilutsky finished fifth in her first collegiate competition. Ranked #7 of 65 fencers, she won all four of her first- and second-round bouts to advance to direct elimination. She then defeated two opponents before being eliminated in the Round of 8.

Additionally, senior Jacqueline Tubbs tied for 10th place in sabre while junior Audrey Edgington finished  13th. Tubbs was victorious in all of her first- and second-round bouts before losing in the Round of 16, while Edgington only dropped two contests in the first two rounds and was also eliminated in the Round of 16.

After losing all of her first-round foil bouts, junior Lily Gabay won all four of her consolation bouts to take first place in that bracket. She allowed no touches in three of those bouts.
