Summer Kitahara of Carnegie Mellon Crowned UAA Individual Champion at Women's Golf Championship

Sophomore Summer Kithara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) of the Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team earned individual medalist honors as the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships concluded on Sunday, March 13. The 36-hole, two-day event was held at Red Tail Country Club in Sorrento, Florida, with the Tartans firing a final team score of 707 to finish third behind champion and 12th-ranked New York University and second-place finisher No. 7 Washington University in St. Louis.
    
Kitahara shot a final round score of 76 to go with her first round score of 82 to finish first with a two-day score of 158, one stroke ahead of WashU's freshman Erin Drolet. Her second-round score was a career-best for 18 holes.

Freshman Carly Jordan (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) also carded a career-best 76 on Sunday and finished third overall with a two-day score of 160.

Sophomore Isabelle Tseng (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) improved by 11 strokes on Sunday to finish third for the Tartans with a two-day score of 197 (104-93). Following Tseng was sophomore Ginger Glass (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) with a 198 after firing a 101 on Sunday.

Senior Yoon Hee Ha (Tigard, Ore.) also improved on Sunday, shooting a 98 after carding a 101 the first day to finish with a 199 for the Tartans.
