NYU Sitting in Second Place at Williams Invitational

From NYU Athletics

New York University's women's golf team is currently in second place at the Williams College Invitational, which is being held on Saturday and Sunday, October 10-11, at the Taconic Golf Course in Williamstown, MA.

The Violets shot 320 in the first round on Saturday and trails only host Williams (309).

Sophomore Kristin Lee is leading the way for NYU. She shot 75 and is in second place overall.

"I think we played pretty well today, but we definitely left room for improvement," said Assistant Coach Meaghan Kenny. "This is a tough course to play without prior experience, so the freshmen struggled a bit. Kristin played really well. I was impressed by her composure out there."

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Sophomore Alyssa Poentis shot 77.

- Freshmen Catherina Li and Jenni Bluetling shot 82 and 86, respectively.

- Sophomore Angela Yang finished the round with a score of 88.

"Alyssa played really well today too, coming off two weeks of rest," added Kenny. "I'm confident we will improve our scores tomorrow and give Williams a run for the title."
