Washington Places Second at UAA Championship

No. 12-ranked New York University edged No. 7 Washington University in St. Louis by two strokes to win the 2016 University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Golf Championship Sunday at RedTail Golf Club in Sorrento, Fla.

WashU, who had a five-stroke lead after an opening round 322, shot a 330 on day two to finish with a 652. New York fired a two-day total of 650 (327-323) to win its first UAA title in school history. Carnegie Mellon University finished third with a 707 (364-343).

Freshman Erin Drolet finished second with a 159 (77-82) and earned first-team all-UAA accolades for the second-straight year. Senior Connie Zhou, who was runner-up a year ago, tied for fifth with a 163 (83-80) and also earned first-team accolades for the second-straight season.

Freshmen Chloe DiPetrillo (82-83, 165, eighth place) and Hanna Jia (80-87, 167) took home second all-UAA honors after placing eighth and 10th, respectively.
