Carnegie Mellon Competes in Opening Round of UAA Championship

The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team opened play at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships on Saturday, March 11 with the 36-hole, two-day event being held at Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Florida. The Tartans carded a team score of 359 on Saturday playing on the par-72 Conservatory Course.

Washington University leads the field following the first day of competition after entering the clubhouse with a 339.

Junior Summer Kitahara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) led the Tartans on day one with an 87. Freshman Yedin Liu (Idaho Falls, Idaho/Idaho Falls) is one-stroke behind Kitahara with an 88 while junior Emma Hoskins (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) carded a 90 through the first 18 holes.
Sophomore Carly Jordan (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) and freshman Lavonca Davis (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington) recorded scores of 94 and 95, respectively, to finish out the team scoring for the Tartans Saturday.

Playing as individuals, junior Isabelle Tseng (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) carded a 90, freshman Sanchi Gupta (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) a 94 and junior Ginger Glass (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) a 104.
