From Carnegie Mellon University Athletics
The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team captured the 2017 TaylorMade-adidas Intercollegiate title, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on Tuesday, March 14. The two-day, 36-hole event was played on the Morgan River Course at the Dataw Island Club in Beaufort, S.C.
After carding a round of 336 on the par-72, 5,900-yard course Monday afternoon, Carnegie Mellon shot 339 on Tuesday for a two-day combined score of 675. Division II Ohio Dominican University placed second with a 681 (340-341).
Freshman Yedin Lui (Idaho Falls, Idaho) led the Tartans over the 36-hole event with a 161 (82-79) which placed her second individually out of 44 golfers. Junior Summer Kitahara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) finished six strokes behind Lui with a 167 (82-85).
Freshman Lavonca Davis (Pickerington, Ohio) improved seven strokes on Tuesday to finish with a 175 (91-84). Junior Emma Hoskins (Libertyville, Ill.) shot a 179 (83-96) and sophomore Carly Jordan (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) carded rounds of 89 and 91 to end with a 180 while.
Carnegie Mellon had three individuals enter the championships; Junior Isabelle Tseng (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) carded a 180 (91-89) to lead the trio. Freshman Sanchi Gupta (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) shot a 195 (87-108) while classmate Ginger Glass (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) finished with a 213 (110-103).
