Yedin Lui Leads Carnegie Mellon at UAA Championship

The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team continued play at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships on Sunday, March 12 and improved 19 strokes for Saturday's opening round to card a 340. The Tartans finished the 36-hole, two-day event in third after carding a 699 (359-340) on the par-72 Conservatory Course at Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Florida.
    
New York University won the championship after carding a 665 (344-321) and Washington University fired a two-round score of 675 (339-336) to finish second.

Freshman Yedin Lui (Idaho Falls, Idaho) was the top Tartan with a 36-hole score of 166 placing tied for fifth. Lui carded an 88 on Saturday before entering the clubhouse on Sunday with a 10-stroke improvement carding a 78. Her 78 tied for the second lowest round of the championships. Junior Summer Kitahara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) tied for 10th after carding a 175 with rounds of 87 and 88. Lui and Kitahara earned all-tournament honors for their finishes.

Sophomore Carly Jordan (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) fired rounds of 94 and 85 to finish with a 179. Freshman Lavonca Davis(Pickerington, Ohio) shot a 184 after recording a score of 89 on Sunday followed by junior Emma Hoskins (Libertyville, Ill.) with a 186. Hoskins shot a 96 in the closing round.
        
Carnegie Mellon had three individuals enter the championships, as junior Isabelle Tseng (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) led the trio with a 183 (90-93). Freshman Sanchi Gupta (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) shot a 188 with back-to-back rounds of 94 while junior Ginger Glass (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) carded a 207 (104-103).
