The Washington University in St. Louis women's golf team shot 300 on Sunday to finish the Olivet Labor Day Tee-Off on top for the fourth straight year as freshman Samantha Haubenstock led the Bears on the day with an even-72-score.
The Bears captured their 29th tournament championship in school history and second tournament title under second year coach Ellen Port.
"The course was tight and tough which required extremely good course management," said Port. "Our team stuck to our game plan for each hole and executed consistently well."
Haubenstock's even par was the lowest of the two-day event and her overall score 151 (79-72) led all participants. She led the field in her first collegiate meet and claimed medalist honors by four strokes over teammate and last season's Olivet Labor Day Tee-Off champion Chloe DiPetrillo.
WashU had five of the top seven finishers with Jessica Wibawa (74-85 for 159), Hanna Jia (79-80 for 159) and Erin Drolet (87-73 for 160). The combined score of 612 was 50 strokes better than runner up and tournament host Olivet (662). Illinois Wesleyan (667), St. Mary's College of Indiana (673), Hanover College (678), Cleary University (690), Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (700) and Franklin College (723) rounded out the field.
"Our team score was great as were many individual scores," noted Port. "It's always great to start the season with a win."
WashU's team score of 300 score was the lowest since April 28 in 2015 (297).
