From Washington University Athletics
After day one of hosting the Sixth Annual WashU Spring Invitational, the No. 16-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's golf team is tied for third place with an opening round score of 314 Saturday afternoon.
Leading the 15 team field is No. 4 Rhodes College with a 294 score. Rhodes opening round score is a tournament best. Gustavus Adolphus College posted the second best score (312) while No. 5 Wittenberg University and Sewanee The University of the South were tied with WashU.
Freshman Samantha Haubenstock led the Bears with a four-over 74, which tied her for the fourth best individual score on the day. Sophomore Chloe DiPetrillo was second for the Bears and tied for 15th with a 78.
Also firing in the 70s was WashU senior Jessica Wibawa (79) as she tied for 22nd on the leaderboard as an individual. Rounding out the Bears lineup were junior Erin Drolet (81), freshman Angelica Harris (81) and sophomore Hanna Jia (86).
Haubenstock led the Bears with three birdies while Harris also added one. WashU's 43 pars tied for the second best mark with Gustavus Adolphus while Rhodes totaled 56. Sophomore Sabrina Ho (82), freshman Emily Carnes (87), and freshman Cecilia Schwaber (95) also competed as individuals.
Rhodes' Mackenzie Cohen led the field 87 golfers with an even par 70 which is the top score to begin the WashU Spring Invitational in its six-year history.
