From Carnegie Mellon University Athletics

The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team finished play on Thursday with a 320 in the third round of the 2018 NCAA Division III Championships at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. The Tartans now have a 54-hole score of 959 and currently are in fifth. Following play today on the par-73, 5,804-yard El Campeón Course, the field was cut to the top 15 teams and top six individuals not on one of those teams to compete the final day on Friday.

Claremont Mudd Scripps holds the lead with a three-day score of 944 with Williams College in second with a 948, George Fox University third with a 952 and New York University in fourth with a 957.

Senior Summer Kitahara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) led the Tartans for the second consecutive day, as she entered the clubhouse on Thursday with a round of three-over par 76. The senior is in 25th individually with a 240 (89-75-76).

On Thursday, junior Carly Jordan (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) turned in her best round of the championships by carding a four-over par 77. Jordan sits one-stroke ahead of Kitahara for a 54-stroke score of 239 (80-82-77) and is tied for 22nd overall. Freshman Charlotte Simpson (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr School) shot an 84 in round three and is currently tied for 19th with a 238 (73-81-84).

Freshman Catherine Tianhong Yu (Dalian, China/Walnut) fired her best round of the championships Thursday when she turned in an 83 while sophomore Yedin Lui (Idaho Falls, Idaho) shot an 87 in round three. Lui has a three-round score of 251 (84-80-87) and Yu has a 254 (84-87-83).
