From NYU Athletics

The New York University women's golf team completed its stay at the Mount Holyoke Invitational in South Hadley, MA, finishing in second in the two-day tournament on Saturday and Sunday, September 23-24.

Shooting 308 on Sunday, the Violets totaled a score of 613 over the weekend to place second, 10 strokes behind Williams College (603).

"Overall I'm pleased with how we performed this weekend," said Assistant Coach Meaghan Kenny. "Today we struggled a bit with everything, and the small mistakes added up over the round."

Freshman Ashley Lung just missed capturing the individual championship, instead settling for second place by shooting 147 (74-73).

"Ashley played really well this weekend," said Kenny. "Having never seen the course before and coming in second is a great accomplishment for a freshman!"

Not far behind, and separated by only one stroke over the weekend, were junior and sophomore combo Jenni Bluetling and Arisa Kimura in fourth (153) and sixth (154) place, respectively.

"I'm really proud of Jenni." said Kenny. "She recovered phenomenally after a bad hole with a three-under on the back."

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Freshman Navika Kuchakulla came back with a strong day two and placed into a three-way tie for ninth, recording an overall score of 156 (83-73).

- Sophomore Patty Treevichaphan finished in a three-way tie for 12th with an overall score of 157 (76-82).

- Rounding out the Violets' golfers were senior Alyssa Poentis and freshman Jessica Wu. The duo took 15th (158) and 39th (169), respectively.

- The Violets have yet to register a team result outside of the top-two this year. This second-place finish follows victories at the St. Lawrence Invitational and the NCAA Division III Fall Preview.
